In case the Kovalam makes you look for more tranquil places then the Pulinkudi & Chowara beaches are around. At a distance of eight km they make excellent alternatives to Kovalam. To see a dam site and feed the fish you move to Aruvikkara, sixteen km from Kovallam. Thiruvallam is another place in the backwater stretch of Kerala that lies around Kovalam.
